Brad and Carrie's Wedding

Wednesday August 12th we attended my youngest brother's wedding in the Salt Lake temple. What a fun day we had. This cute picture of the couple was taken by Katherine (note the expression on the bride and groom's faces.

I think I love you Katrine!!!

What handsome boys.

Aunt Isa thoroughly enjoyed feeding Caleb his first taste of Jello salad. Caleb thoroughly enjoyed eating it.

I would say the three Clark girls are quite a catch but it looks like living in the south has damaged Katrine's looks for good.

Katrine decided to snitch her brownie because we were hungry waiting for the bride and groom. Of course the kids noticed immediately and it set off a desert first wedding luncheon. (when did this blog become all about my sister?)

AAAHHHH look at all those Clark's. These fine gentlemen are my Daddy and his 5 brothers. Uncle Richard wasn't there at the moment but we snatched this picture of him before we left. I'm no expert at photoshop so he's still all by himself.

Katherine and her Dad were the best dancers at the reception. She loved being the center of attention.

Manti Community Campground

We went camping over the 24th holiday with our friends the Carters. They brought along a 4-wheeler, motorcycle, canoe and fishing stuff. The kids were in heaven. Kyle caught the first fish but had to throw it back. Josh caught one next and we got to keep it. The next day Kyle caught 4 and gave his last one to Katie. We got to ride in the canoe and take 4 wheeler drives. The campground was so beautiful and on the way home we stopped at our friends farm and got to see a huge dairy farm nearby.

This is Josh's first fish of the trip.

He caught five total. The boys now want poles and tackle boxes for christmas.

Kyle's fist fish he got to keep

He caught three or four total. If you ask Kyle he'll tell you he caught six and next time he'll probably say he caught 9. A true fisherman!!!

The fish Kyle gave to Katherine.

The kids couldn't wait to go for a ride.

Mom, Katherine and her friend Hannah in a canoe.

Josh said the calf's tongue felt like sandpaper when it sucked on his finger.

Jeff did WHAT???

You'll never believe what Jeff did for his boys!! Well, I guess you will because I have pictures to prove it.
Joshua caught his first fish when we were camping two weekends ago and was so proud of it he wouldn't let us release it. So, we took it back to camp with simple instructions from the park ranger on how to gut the fish. Josh took his pocket knife to the fish's neck but lost his appetite (for my son is a miracle) when the blood squirted out. Jeff took over with my kitchen knife and the hatchet. He was soooo cool!!

Gotta have a fire stick.

He was so proud of this treasure.

Caleb enjoyed the fishing too.

Wow could this girl cast. She could get further out in the lake than her mommy.

Summer Fun

We had a blast watching the Freedom Festival's Hot Air Balloon show. Katherine was determined to keep her hands over her ears the entire 2 hours. She just knew that any moment they'd be loud!!!

Who doesn't love a good slip-n-slide afternoon at Grandma's house?

Joshua's pinewood derby car was quite successful this time around. At least we never took last place. (That's what our last car did every time)

I wish I had pictures to post from our 4th of July celebration but our night didn't turn out like we had planned. To set you up for the story......Kyle has been talking about fireworks since Halloween. This is amazing because Kyle loves holidays, well, only holidays that involve candy. So 4th of July shouldn't even be on his radar. Anyway, we bought fireworks last week and he'd get them out every day and display them on our piano, admire them, arrange them, talk about them, etc.
We spent the day in Payson at Grandma Clark's house eating BBQ, playing croquet, badminton and running through the sprinkler. The long anticipated hour of 8:00 pm finally came and we began with poppers and sparklers. We had just begun smoke bombs when Kyle felt a tiny single rain drop and ran screaming into the house. (More background info...Kyle is deathly afraid of anything that produces a loud noise (i.e. lawnmowers, vacuums, radio controlled cars) so you can see that lightning not only produces a loud noise but can kill you. If you are Kyle you believe that it will kill you no matter what. We've talked about lightning rods and the safety of being in a car or house but it does not matter when you have such a powerful fear.)
Needless to say I retrieved Kyle and told him we haven't seen one lightning bolt yet and convinced him to come out holding my hand. He stepped out for a few seconds but ran back into the house crying. We did this more than a few times, meanwhile Jeff is lighting fireworks as fast as he can because there actually was quite a big storm rolling in from Santaquin.
Kyle didn't know whether to be more upset about the chance of being struck by lightning or that he was missing the fireworks he'd waited so long to enjoy. We finally set half of what we had left aside for the 24th and convinced him to view the rest from the open doorway of the house. He did get to see a few more before the wind picked up so violently it was blowing over the fireworks.
We hastily gathered up the garbage and leftover fireworks and ran in the house before it got worse. Kyle now refused to get in the car during the storm so I had to pick him up (he's a big boy if you didn't know that already) and carry him kicking to the van. We said our Thanks and Sorrys to Grandma and Grandpa and took our fun circus home. We now pray that the weekend of the 24th will be storm free or we'll have to break the law so Kyle can enjoy his Holiday. (whew that was a long story!!)

Here's all (and I mean ALL) of the photos we could collect of our June trip to the Smokey Mountains with Jeff's family.

Hill Air Force Show

In June we attended the free air show in Ogden. We always have such a blast and this year was no exception. We found a great trick of riding UTA shuttles which drop you off right at the front gate instead of parking and walking FOREVER. We only got to see the last hour and a half because of traffic caused by an accident but we were able to see the thunderbirds which we missed the last time we went. If you look closely at Caleb's ears you can see these putty like earplugs that worked perfectly for the little ones. He had a blast. Katherine only gave up the last 15 minutes or so.
I sure enjoyed watching our country's display of it's talented service men. I'll never be able to write how profoundly lucky I am to be an American and how grateful I am to the men and women who give their lives to this country. It brought tears to my eyes and I can't wait to go the next time they host it.

Not the best video but the Thunderbirds were amazing to say the least.
The second video you have to look closely but this is the trick where the jets fly right at eachother and at the last moment the tip a wing slightly to avoid disaster. Freakin cool!
