Yo!

Now we're trying to boost our immune systems by making some fresh juice. Joshua's lovely gagging face is because the juicer shoots out the pulp in the back and looks quite gross. Hopefully we will all get over the stomach flu and cold we've fought this week and stay healthy for awhile.

Here's a little video we took of Katherine last night.

Video games

Who says video games don't give any physical exercise to kids? Make sure and watch for Kyle's tongue too.

Burns, chapstick and swimming

Sunday Katherine burned her hand on the stove element and since it was Sunday, of course there were no doctors in so an ER visit was needed. She did very well though. In this picture you can see her anxiety over what happened. It was sad to hear her recount what happened.

Here is Kyle's imagination on display. He had chapped lips and sores above his lip. We could not get him to stop licking them so we had to make this makeshift bandage and tape it to his face. We told him it looked like a mustache so he would think it was a little cool. He ran away with it and said I look like Santa Claus. Josh found a Santa hat and Voila!

Believe it or not we are on our way to go swimming. It had snowed the 21st about 5 inches but that didn't stop these California Carlsons! Can you see Joshua's yellow and blue swimsuit under his pants? He wanted to show the camera to prove he really was going swimming. Boy, Hawaii sounds really nice right now!

Quarantine

There are no pictures for this week. We were actually under 48 hours quarantine for the weekend. Our friends next door (who we visit with at least once a day) took their 1 1/2 year old boy to the doctor Friday night for a persistent fever. We kept their 4 year old daughter at our house while they went. They called at 9:50 and said the doctor suspected meningitis and they had to take him to the hospital. We kept their daughter at our house for the next day while the baby got a spinal tap and was monitored. Our doctor advised us to stay home until the culture from the spinal tap matured for 48 hours. Wow, that was kinda scary. We babysat their girl and stayed home. Jeff was ecstatic I didn't go to Orchestra at 8:00 am Saturday and no church!
The kids were pretty good for being trapped for the weekend. The neighbors were released Sunday at 8:00 pm and no meningitis. Just a virus that behaves like it. Well, we are happy to say we are all happy and healthy. What else can you ask for?

New Additions.....and Subractions

Well, here is the subraction part of the blog post. Joshua complained of a sore tooth last Thursday so we flossed and mouthwashed to get the chunk of food that might be stuck loose. Friday he woke up with a swollen cheek, Friday night we went to the doctor who told us it was an abcess. Josh got 1/2 gram of antibiotic shot in each leg and we came back the next morning. They sent us to the dentist who confirmed it was a dead tooth. What??!! The dentist told us it is quite common when the dentist fills the original cavity sometimes the cavity will have reached the pulp without them knowing and it will continue to grow. Well, long story short Joshua had his tooth pulled yesterday and was so brave. It was pretty funky to see the tooth yanked with plain old pliars. Josh was so proud and kept it in a little box until the tooth fairy came and gave him a dollar bill. He now has a spacer between the other two teeth because it was a baby tooth and the other teeth have to leave a gap so the permanent tooth has a place to go. (Just another great story to tell for years to come, right?)

Here is the addition part of the post. (No I'm not announcing a pregnancy) This box came from Risae's new 10 cu ft. Chest Freezer. We were waiting to buy one with our tax return but Home Depot was selling their $279 freezer for $172. We went that day and bought it. It fits quite snugly between our computer desk and the fridge. Now we have to fill the dang think. Heck, one trip to Costco should do it. At least we can have room to freeze leftovers and buy lots of meat when it goes on sale. Also we'll be able to have more than one bag of frozen veggies at a time. You get pretty sick of corn when you've had it for 2 months straight. Jeff had only one thing to say, ICE CREAM!
Crazy kids! What's better than a box house?

Christmas Morning

Katherine got a talking kitchen and would not pay
attention to another present for an hour. She says, "Daddy, I cook?"Josh got a spongebob Operation game along with the coolest
remote control insect you've ever seen. We'll get video of that
this week.

Here's Katie putting on her fake lipstick. Don't tell her it's fake though!

Kyle is playing with his rc Lightning Mcqueen.

Christmas Eve PJs

Merry Christmas Eve! Here we are in our new Pajams we open on
Christmas Eve. The boys were slightly hyper
and were leaping off the couches.

Christmas Eve

Here we are at Christmas Eve dinner. Even though it is a
special time and even though Santa is watching----the boys still put up a fight to eat dinner. Is there any rest over the fight of eating?

These are pictures of the most beautiful snowflakes we've ever seen

This snow storm produced individual flakes with patterns just like a cut out.
